Instead of meeting for regular services on Sunday, Sept. 3, Connect is going out into the community for our 3rd annual Rise & Build Serving Day. This year, instead of sending teams to different locations, everyone is headed to Bethel so we can all get our hands dirty together while serving at the Empower Youth Ranch.
We’ll meet at 8 a.m. for coffee and treats (Tim Hortons, courtesy of Empower Youth) followed by a short service at 8:30 a.m. By 9 a.m., we’ll divide up into teams (lead by our Connect Groups) and go to work sprucing up barns, doing yard work, packing food boxes, building tables and more. We’ll break for lunch at 11:30 a.m., and have everyone headed home by 1 p.m.
This is an incredibly special day, and we look forward to unleashing some Connect-style love on an amazing nonprofit like Empower Youth, which feeds and loves hundreds of kids in our community every year. The ranch is a brand new venture for Empower Youth, and they have huge plans for it, but it needs a ton of work to get the grounds ready to make a difference for young poeple.
As Mike has often said, sometimes the last thing we need to do is listen to one more Bible study or sing one more Christian song. Sometimes we just need to go and serve someone. Well, here is your chance. And here is your kids’ chance to do just that. Bring the whole family this Labor Day weekend and help us go to work.
If you aren’t yet part of a Connect Group that meets regularly, no worries, we’ll get you plugged into a project (and an awesome team) that fits.
