Project Joy Helping Area Families

project_joy_928x522_web1If your family would like to do something extra special this Christmas season, you’ll want to get involved with Project Joy. In fact, we are challenging every single family from Connect to do just that.

Through this effort, our church is partnering with Empower Youth to make Christmas special for families and especially young kids. This is the beginning of our partnership with Empower Youth, a local nonprofit that works with schools in our county to break the chains of generational poverty. Stay tuned for more exciting news on this front or talk with Connect Kids & Family Pastor Joey Rolen.

If you want to get involved with Project Joy, stop by the Connect Center and pick an ornament off the Christmas tree. Each ornament will be labeled with needs from local families. Please purchase the gift, wrap it and return it by Sunday, Dec. 11.

“Our goal is to give every kid from these families something they want, something they can wear, something they can read and something they need,” says Rolen. “We are also collecting Kroger or Walmart gift cards as well as movie passes to Pierce Pointe theater so they can have a night out during the holidays.”

Rolen says he hopes families from Connect will decorate and hang the ornament on their own tree at home as a reminder to pray for that child or family throughout the holidays.

“This is a great opportunity to teach generosity to our kids,” he says. “Not only are we providing for families in our community, but we are also teaching our kids in prayer, generosity and kindness.”

If you aren’t familiar with Connect, we welcome your family to join us at Withamsville Tobasco Elementary School every Sunday at 9:30 and 11 a.m. (Our Christmas Services this year will be at the same times but moved to Saturday, Dec. 24.)
