Christmas is my favorite time of year at Connect!
This post is your one-stop-shop for all the info you’ll need for the 2013 version of Christmas at Connect.
‘Presence’ Christmas Series
Our Christmas series is called Presence. It kicked off on Sunday, December 1. When Jesus was born, an angel appeared to a group of shepherds and told them all about it. God had come in human form. He was present in our world. But that’s not just the Christmas story. That’s our story. God is not some distant cosmic being who is ignorant or uninterested in what’s happening in our lives. He is close. He is near. He is present. And it’s His presence that changes everything for us. Check out more or watch each week of this series.
This series is a GREAT opportunity to invite a friend or family member to church with you. People are generally more open to invitations to church during the Christmas season than any other time of the year. And I promise that if you take the risk and extend the invitation, our church will deliver. They will be warmly welcomed. The band will bring it. And your friend or family member will hear the clear truth about Jesus’ presence and His love for them. I encourage you to take a risk right now and invite someone using one of the simple Share buttons at the bottom of this page.
Two Services for Christmas Eve
A lot of people will tell you that their favorite service of the year is our Christmas Eve service. It’s simple. It’s peaceful. It’s just flat awesome. And this year, you have a couple options to choose from. We realize that families have different traditions on Christmas Eve, so we’re offering identical services at 10:30 am & 8:00 pm. Both will be an intimate acoustic service and include a story just for the kids. We will have our nursery open for babies and toddlers through age 2.
The services will be at the Holiday Inn Eastgate, and we will have tickets available for Christmas Eve starting on Dec. 8. These tickets are not required for admission, but they really help us with planning and preparation. Please take a ticket for every member of your family, plus anyone that you’re inviting to come with you on Christmas Eve. It might sound a little cliché to say that Christmas is “the most wonderful time of the year.” But at Connect, it really is! Can’t wait to get this Christmas season started!
Helping the Needy
One word that describes any church that is serious about their mission is the word “generous.” Connect, you really stepped up with Project Joy. Project Joy is our effort to help dozens of families who are struggling to have a joyous Christmas morning. We buy gifts that are distributed to these families through a local school. We launched Project Joy on Sunday, November 24. And all of the tags were taken in one day! It’s just one more reason why I love our church. And if you didn’t get a tag, no worries. We’re still collecting gift cards in any amount to Kroger or Wal-Mart. All gifts need to be wrapped and returned by Sunday, Dec. 15.
Update: Connect is reaching out to one more family. Read how Connect is bringing “Project Joy” to a local family.
Hope to see you during our Christmas Season!
