Thank you for being there for my family, and thank you for all the prayers. You and the Church are our angels!! – Project Joy Recipient
Because of your generosity, were able to take on another needy family who could really use some help this Christmas.
Here’s their story: We met this family as a result of our Sports Camp this year. At first, a single mom who lives near Batavia reached out to us because she was struggling mightily to provide Christmas gifts for her elementary-age daughter. She just started a new job and was already scraping by when her car broke down.
Then, days after her request, tragedy struck. Serious complications occurred for her oldest daughter, who was 22 weeks pregnant, when her water broke. The baby she was carrying survived through the weekend, but passed away on Monday, Dec. 2.
What we can do: First we will pray. Please ask God to comfort this family who now faces an incredibly trying season as they are forced to plan a funeral and say goodbye to an infant weeks before Christmas. What else? We are asking that you partner with us in support of this family. What we would like you to do is stop by either Kroger or Wal-Mart and pick up a gift card in any amount and bring it with you this Sunday, Dec. 15. Our hope is to brighten their lives in some way and remind them of God’s love for them even during this especially difficult time.
Update on gifts for needy
On Sunday, Nov. 24, we kicked off “Project Joy,” Connect’s effort to put Christmas gifts into the hands of needy kids from our community. Connect stepped up huge and picked up every single tag the first day. Because of you, tons of kids are going to have a brighter Christmas morning. Remember, gifts are due back, wrapped and ready, on Sunday, Dec. 15. Your gift could make all the difference for a child this year.
