Thanksgiving has come and gone and the Christmas season is officially here. And we are READY for Christmas at Connect!
Our official launch at the Withamsville-Tobasco Elementary School is December 6. That’s also when we’re kicking off our brand new Christmas series called A Charlie Brown Christmas. We are going to have some serious fun with this one!
I’m sure a lot of you saw the new Peanuts movie that is now in theaters. My family went, and we loved it. 2015 also marks the 50th anniversary of the classic Charlie Brown Christmas TV special. It debuted in 1965, and it has aired every year since. A big reason for its staying power is because it deals with some timeless themes like the search for hope, meaning, and purpose. Our world has been searching for these things since the beginning of time, and the search goes on. And that’s exactly what our Christmas series is going to be all about this year.
Maybe it seems like you’re coming up empty in your life. Maybe things are a total mess. Or maybe things are ok, but you just know that there’s supposed to be more to it than this. We get it. We’ve searched and come up empty. We know exactly how it feels. So when you step into our church, you’re not stepping into an atmosphere where you’ll be judged and condemned. You’re stepping into a place where you’ll be surrounded by people who get it. (And if you want to know more about what makes us tick, you can check out this post.)
I can’t even begin to tell you how much fun we’re going to have in this series. Seriously, just look at the video above. We believe that the church should be the most joyful, creative, and fun place on the planet! But we also know that this joy is rooted in the fact that God came into our world to rescue us. He is the answer to our deepest longings, and He is going to show up BIG TIME at Connect this December.
That means that we should come expecting Him to do BIG things. And for our partners at Connect, part of that expectation comes in the form of an invitation. It’s a fact that more people are open to an invitation to church during the Christmas season than any other time of the year. So who do you need to bring with you? Is there a friend, a family member, or a co-worker who’s been on your mind? This is THE time to say the simple words, “Would you come to church with me?” That simple question could be the catalyst that God uses to change their lives. When God shows up, big things happen.
And we absolutely believe that big things WILL happen this December! Can’t wait to get it started!
Mike Edmisten is Senior Pastor at Connect Christian Church, a portable church that meets on the eastside of Cincinnati at Withamsville-Tobasco Elementary. Join us for our official launch day on Dec. 6.
