Welcome Joey & Jennifer Rolen
We announced earlier this year that we were conducting a national search to fill a brand new full-time Kids Pastor position at Connect.
Today we are excited to introduce you to Joey Rolen, our new Connect Kids and Family Pastor, who will start with us officially on August 1. We are thrilled that he and his his wife, Jennifer, and their three beautiful children — Mercedes, 4, Sincerity, 20 months, and Cash, 8 months, are relocating from Georgia to Cincinnati this month.
Joey is 36 years old and comes to us with 11 years of full-time experience and 18 years total leading and serving young people in Tennessee, Virginia and Georgia. Our leaders worked closely with a respected ministry search firm to narrow our focus to the absolute best candidates, and Joey stood out immediately as the candidate whose gifts best align with our long-term goals for Connect Kids.
Reaching Our Community
Joey is excited about sharing Jesus with young people, but he is equally excited to help Connect pursue its mission to serve the kids and families of our community and particularly the West Clermont School District with no strings attached.
He has a reputation for building successful programs for kids as well as building up volunteer leaders who are passionate about pouring into the next generation. Not to mention, he’s led more than 20 mission trips and overseen massive community outreach events.
Resource For Families
It is important to note Joey’s title as Kids and Family Pastor. As our leaders got to know Joey, it became clear that we needed to think bigger than hiring a kids pastor. As we got to know his strengths, we were reminded that ministering to kids doesn’t end with kids. His passion is not just to reach young people but to minister to their families, too.
What does that mean? It means you won’t just be handing your kids off to Joey on Sunday morning. Instead, you can expect to see him along the sidelines at your kids’ ball games and even, at times, sitting across from you at the dinner table. He has a heart for serving the underserved as well as reaching kids with special needs. He will be a resource to young families during difficult times and someone to lean on when life throws you curveballs. We see Joey as a great resource for our church and this community when it comes to raising kids.
Once Joey gets onboard, Tish Carwell, our current part-time kids director will be working closely with him to assure we don’t miss a beat in this ministry. We are so thankful for Tish for her dedication not just to this ministry but throughout this search process as well as during the transition. You need to know that Tish and the rest of our leaders are convinced that God has brought us someone in Joey Rolen who will take our Connect Kids ministry to even greater places for Christ, and we can’t wait to watch it all happen.
